In honor of my first Mother’s Day and Birdie’s third month, I reflected on how new motherhood has changed my life and home for House Method. It was also the perfect opportunity to celebrate Birdie’s Nana. It would have been impossible to be her daughter—the recipient of all her courage, hope, and love—and not want to become a mother myself.
I’d invested years and a small fortune in my education, honed a particular set of talents and skills that seemed, from what I could tell, to actually matter to people in my profession, skills I also teach—none of which was serving me especially well in new motherhood.
